Tex Peyer, Tex McCraw and Jeff Moy were the guests on America Online's LSH
Chat on Tuesday, June 27, 1995. Mark Waid stopped in briefly. LSH Chat is
held every Tuesday night in the DC Online Chat area at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Previous guests have included Mark Waid, Tom Peyer, Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy, KC
Carlson, and Mike McAvennie.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - There will be no AOL chat on Tuesday, July 4. A
special "therapy session" will be held on Thursday 7/6, and spoilers
regarding the Legionnaires annual will be discussed.

DISCLAIMER - Lies! Lies, I tell you! Lies! Er, everything in this report
is subject to my skewed interpretation of what was said. The chat's are
typically chaotic, and I may have misunderstood what the creators were saying.

SPOILERS - Spoiler material is presented in the end of this report with no
advance warning. If you're trying to avoid Spoilers, don't read
approximately the 2nd half of this report. (The rest of you may skip
immediately to the second half of the report.)

HUMOR ALERT - If anything herein makes the creators sound like humorless
goons, it's the fault of the reporter. Many (if not all) of the comments
were tongue-in-cheek.

MERCHANDISING NOTE - The promised LSH T-Shirt is offered by Graphitti
Designs on page 157 of the current (July) issue of Previews.

Brainiac 5 is Mark Waid's favorite Legionnaire, followed closely by
Invisible Kid and Valor.

McCraw describes being a comics writer as a job, but a GREAT one.

Previously that day, Mark Waid had both dialogued 25 pages and translated
the Legion Constitution into French. Peyer had dialogued 172 pages.

Tom ("I'm not just the co-plotter, I'm the colorist, too") McCraw thinks the
colors on the early 80's Giffen LSH poster are garish.

Editor KC Carlson is a Daxamite, and has mighty heat vision. The best thing
about working for a Daxamite editor is that lead is readily available.

Jeff considered putting Evolvo-as-gorilla on an upcoming cover. (Gorilla
covers were big sellers for DC during the Silver Age.)

Peyer loved "Batman Forever" and isn't ashamed to admit it.

Jeff and McCraw are plotting a secret T-Shirt deal with Spark and XS. Jeff
was warned to keep the art clean. Thousands of LSH fans everywhere want one
of these T-Shirts!

R.E.B.E.L.S. won't be dealing with LSH, but not as a matter of policy. They
just have too much to cover. R.E.B.E.L.S. is being discontinued, and #18 is
the last issue. (Peyer, artist Derec Aucoin, and editor Dan Raspler will be
doing a new series together.) The links between the teams are still there.
Everything not affected by Zero Hour is canonical to Peyer's mind. It's
connected because of the Mallorrs, Coluans, and many of the same races.
Lobo isn't coming back to R.E.B.E.L.S.

McCraw has colored both parts of the Ranzz story (LSH #73 & L* #30).

Spark is younger than Live Wire by about five minutes according to Mark.
Tom McCraw corrected Mark, noting that the difference was 6 minutes. Peyer
indicated that Garth was being unduly dismissive to Ayla, and that the
dismissal was a bit sexist. Jeff offers that Garth is protective of Ayla,
and considers her the little sister. (Jeff is 12 minutes older than his
brother, Phil.)

Peyer thinks Insect Queen has a disgusting power.

The Showcase stories were real.  The Academy's like the Joe Kubert school;
they're aspirants who might make it.

A third LSH book has been talked about, but that's it for now. No plans for
the Wanderers right now.

McCraw likes the idea of a LSH swimsuit issue, and is definitely in favor of
Luornu in a skimpy suit. The females would get their cake, too. Lyle might
be hard to see. Cham would be a suit on another character. McCraw sees
Brainy in a full-body diving suit.

Peyer noted that it takes time to make Interon, even for Trommites.

Jeff offered that Jan was hanging onto the underside of Brande's ship,
wearing a transuit. ("Houston, we have a problem.") McCraw cross-examined
asking Jeff where Jan would have gotten a transuit on Trom because it was
isolated from U.P. tech. When suggested that the transuit came from a
locker on the ship, McCraw said he hoped it was a footlocker because the
ship was small. Jeff thought he could surive using his powers since he was
good enough to make Tarnium.

"You never know" if R.J. will find himself in need of a blood transfusion
from his son.

LSH leader election by the readers is coming this fall. McCraw opined that
Zoe would have to be a member to be elected. (Zoe isn't a member?) After
discussion, they differed on whether exiled members were eligible. Peyer
thought that Zoe would make a great leader, too, and is pleased that she's
liked.

Peyer is plotting Klordny into an upcoming story.

An "Underworld Unleashed" crossover will follow immediately after the
Superboy crossover. Mordru isn't the "UU" villain. (Funny, I was just
thinking that Mordru should be powered up.)

We'll see Brainy's secret lab in the October issues. (The month before the
Superboy/LSH crossover, if you're paying attention to that sort of thing.)

The Superboy/LSH crossover is focused around Valor. Valor's future is not
determined yet. Most of his time with L.E.G.I.O.N. and seeding the world is
still there. Other than that . . . ?

We'll see more of Live Wire and Ultra Boy hanging around.

When asked if Cos is going "nutso," McCraw offered that Cos is just trying
to keep up with the pressure of leadership.

They were cagey about revealing whether anyone died in the L* Annual. Peyer
offered that it will be important to chat after the Annual, that we will
need a support group, and that we wouldn't be able to lynch him. He even
called us "suckers," and noted that we will be too devastated to raise a
hand against them. Jeff noted that we will want to kill them and is
bringing a fire hose to the next chat to keep everyone from killing him.
Peyer promised that they didn't do the annual to be mean, but that it won't
be easy on us. Jeff was afraid to show his face at the cons, and considered
taking profem as a disguise. He'll probably be in the rafters.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Shvaughn to be revelaed as Sean. Peyer
thought the retcon was "bloody stupid." (Not Peyer's words, but he agreed
to them.) McCraw noted that the retcon angered a lot of people.

The two new team members that are joining should make some people very
happy, but one may take us by surprise. The joining members have been in
the books after Zero Hour.
