===============

Curt Swan passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 1996. He was at
home in his bed, and was discovered by his family on Sunday
evening. He had apparently died of a heart attack in his sleep,
and the coroner believes he died quickly and without pain. Curt
had been feeling tired recently, and his family became concerned
when he didn't return phone calls.

Curt's family has requested that instead of cards and letters,
that donations be made in Curt's name to the Cartoon Museum in
Boca Raton, Florida.

Curt had always said that one of the best times of his career was
when he got to draw the Legion.

Curt has an unpublished two part story for DC comics that could
not yet be disclosed, and an upcoming humor story for Penthouse
Comics.

KC reports that tributes are being planned for both the Superman
and the Legion books. Jeff indicated that a memorial for Curt
could be added to the upcoming Shanghalla appearance if the issue
had not yet been sent to the printers. Roger Stern will do a
tribute to Curt Swan in the upcoming Legion Archives volume 6.

Legion stories will appear in SHOWCASE '96 #8 and ##10-12. The
Legion has the lead spot in ##11 and 12.

Jeff isn't sure if he will have a space in artists' alley in San
Diego this year because of a requirement that he obtain a
California temporary sales permit.

KC indicated that there were story ideas plotted out for
approximately a year. McCraw indicated that the story ideas were
subject to change.

They're letting the readers decide if this year's Legion annuals
were Elseworlds or a possible future.

KC asked that readers not give up on the annuals yet. He and
Rueben Diaz are coordinating next year's annuals and the annuals
will be in continuity. He couldn't announce the theme yet.

KC indicated that approximately 300 votes had been received on
America Online to date. He hadn't counted any of them, so he
didn't know who was leading.

KC further indicated that they will write the leader in as soon
as the character is elected. He promised that whoever wins the
election will be leader, either book.

Apparition is eligible for the Legion leader election.

Peyer reassured fans that were concerned that a sales increase
during the 20th century storyline might prompt DC to leave the
Legion in the 20th century. He emphasizes that the 20th century
story was creator generated and its ending will be, also. He
indicated that he'd love for the 20th century storyline to be
extended by great sales.

Jeff indicated that the sleeveless look is what he originally
designed for Shrinking Violet. The addition of the sleeves and
their subsequent disappearance was intentional.

Peyer indicates that the characters have thought about Princess
Projectra, and the results will be shocking.

McCraw hints that the upcoming new 30th century members will be a
little bit of the old and a little bit of new. He also indicated
that L* #43 will have a lot of characters for fans to be
delighted over.
