JSA Secret Files #1

Gathering Storms

Mordru, looking for the location of the next Dr Fate's birth, finds the aged Sandman (Wesley Dodds) shortly after the Grey Man had given him and Speed Saunders the location of three potential "Fate-childs". Rather than tell Mordru, Dodds throws himself off a cliff.

Dead Ends

Black Canary meets Fate (Jared Stevens) in a demon bar in an attempt to persuade him to go to Wesley Dodds' funeral. He refuses, and the story ends with Mordru finding Fate's location.

Dark Lord profile

A sketchy Mordru profile, kept so so as to conceal the revelation of the "Dark Lord"'s identity. However, this is partially negated by giving the "historical" first appearance of the character as Adventure Comics #369.

JSA #1: Justice Be Done

Fate appears at Dodds' funeral, stabbed in the back wih his own knife by "the Dark Lord" before dying moments later. The Sons of Anubis, a group of Egyptian-themed zombies, then attempt to get the reconfigured artifacts of Dr Fate from Fate's body; but are stopped by the mourners [NB: This group do not officially become the JSA until the end of the arc, but will be referred to as such from this point on], who delay them until the artifacts disappear from Fate's body. A man calling himself Scarab then appears, calling himself Scarab and asking for the JSA's help to stop the end of the world.

JSA #2: The Wheel of Life

The JSA attempt to retrieve the three children in question, but after one of the three groups find the new Hawkgirl with the baby, the four are attacked by "the Dark Lord", who takes the baby from Hourman's unconscious body and declared himself openly as Mordru.

JSA #3: Old Souls

The rest of the JSA arrive, and Starman (Jack Knight) severs Mordru's hand to prevent him from strangling Hawkgirl, but in response Mordru simply teleports away with the child, appearing inside Dr Fate's tower at the same time as Scarab (the latter followed, unwittingly, by the Star-Spangled Kid [Star]), and steals his amulet from his body, leaving him an old, naked man on the floor. After regrowing his hand, he attempts to use the child to turn on the power in the artifacts before killing it, but Star delays him a moment until the JSA arrive; only for Mordru to rapidly defeat them. In the meantime, Star is pulled into Dr Fate's amulet and told by Kent Nelson, the former Dr Fate, to touch the baby with Scarab's amulet. She does this, and the baby is transformed into the adult Dr Fate.

JSA #4: Ouroboros

Mordru fights the new Dr Fate, and eventually defeats him - but when he places Fate's artifacts on his body, he is instead pulled into the amulet.
