:I could go either way on this. In one respect, if we include it, then why not the reprints of Adv 247 that also reprint the cover? On the other hand, its not exactly the same finished art, and you know whoever colored the new version was wetting their pants with excitement over getting to work on such a classic cover. I'd bet they would consider their contribution an homage. -- [[User:Craigopher|Gopher]] 21:12, 9 October 2007 (PDT)

Include non-Legion backup stories?

Most of the Legion appearances leading up Adventure #300 contain one or more backup stories that have nothing to do with the Legion, since the Legion was not the main focus of the magazines in which they appeared. Do we want to include credits, description, images, etc for these stories? Should we include a brief mention of them but skip images and longer descriptions?

A brief mention in an "Other stories" section if you want, but no infobox or great detail. - Reboot (SoM) talk page 07:53, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

Mystery Legionnaires

In the original printing of Adventure 247, the green skinned, blond haired person was actually caucasian with brown hair, and was recolored green/blonde for later printings. Similarly, other unnamed characters were colored as Legionnaires retroactively in reprints. In the original printing, there were no people who were recognizable as Legionnaires who were introduced later.

See my page at http://lsh.0catch.com/lsh/lshmyst.htm (and feel free to use any panels since I scanned them).

  • That's what I get for not spending the bucks on an original copy of Adventure 247. However, the case can be made that Supergirl joined before Superboy, even without the retconned green skin. I'm starting to put together my ideas on early Legion continuity (also linked from the Adventure 247 page). Somehow I dont doubt that you are already familiar with all the pieces of the puzzle. Would you like to work on it with me? I'll revise the Adv 247 page, just got to think of a way to hook the early continutiy page without mentioning the green skin. --Gopher 16:37, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
I'm not arguing against the "Supergirl joined before Superboy" theory, that's pretty well established (and I even quoted Mark Waid from his Legion Index on my page). My only point on that one was that there were no recognizable Legionnaires (viewed in hindsight) there at the time, and any recoloring amounts to a retcon.
As for how to hook the early page without mentioning green skin, it's generally accepted now that the first appearance was retroactively miscolored, and that Brainy and the others "should" have been there. With all current reprints recolored to show Brainy and others there, that's the "current" true history (think of the Special Edition Star Wars, like them or not, they were more official because they were newer).
Oh, and my copy of Adventure 247 only cost me $100 since it's missing the centerfold (one cartoon, 2 ads, one Green Arrow page) and the cover has been restored. --User:Mgrabois 17:37, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
I should have known better, because my first exposure to the story was with the original coloring in Adventure Comics 491. Those little digests were my key to learning about the Legion's early history back then, including the concept of Supergirl before Superboy. On the page I'm building, I'd like to walk through the reasoning with pictures from the flashbacks in Adv 301, 323, etc. Would you mind if I include a comparison of the green/no green images? At the risk of repeating what is available elsewhere on your site and others, I think it would make an interesting side-note for the page. --Gopher 18:12, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
Nah, go ahead and use whatever from there you want. Just throw a link back my way. I'd say to use the Adventure 247 and the Silver Age Classics versions as the first and most recent - notice the coloring differences between the Archives (1991) and Silver Age Classics (1992).
Also, I've got a Legion reprint page at http://lsh.0catch.com/lsh/lshrepr.htm, and I've updated the main page with the ones you left off. --user:mgrabois 19:47, 17 July 2006 (PDT)

More cover images?

So that's the right way to build an image gallery! Thanks for the change - I'll be using that code again, I'm sure.

I dug out my issues and was preparing to upload more parody/homage images...although the ones I have (Simpsons, Dark Horse Presents, L.E.G.I.O.N., Overstreet) are all on the other sites linked. Do you guys want those in the Wiki? --Gopher 19:27, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
