Biography

Origin

Jeka Wynzorr was the princess of the planet Orando, a world populated by a ruling class of large, sentient, snakes and an underclass of (similarly sentient) small, raccoon-like mammals. However, she renounced this heritage to travel the galaxy, using her illusion-casting powers to disguise herself as a humanoid to avoid attention.

Legion

Eventually, she arrived on Earth, and chose to join in the Legion tryouts. She was accepted, alongside Magno and Umbra, and chose the codename Sensor.*

She formed a close friendship with Chameleon, although many in the general public - her father (King Charlz of Orando) included - assumed it was a romance. This friendship become a sore point between her and her father during the Dark Circle crisis, when the Affiliated Planets (a front for the Dark Circle) used distrust of the Durlans to convince United Planets worlds such as Orando to leave the U.P. and join the A.P. After the Dark Circle was exposed, King Charlz apologized to Sensor.

Sensor would later help fellow Legionnaire Thunder prospect for Eternium. They were ambushed by Rimborian landlord Pernisius and imprisoned. After a drugged Thunder returned to her own time by saying the magic word Captain Marvel, an equally drugged Sensor escaped her captors. She was caught and imprisoned for telepathically broadcasting the effects of the drugs, and sent to Blackstar Juvenile Correctional Facility. To her horror, she found that the inmates were being used as slave labor. Luckily, Gear, a technorganic being who functioned as the facility's defense systems. Gear confided that he was waiting for a prisoner powerful enough to help him fight back against the prison guards and owners. The two were able to take over the facility and free the prisoners.

Even during the Legion's disbandment when half the team were "Lost", she was a key component of R.J. Brande's plan to construct the artificial planetoid Legion World, allowing them to hide the construction efforts while Brande and Cosmic Boy plotted to restart the team.

Change

The altered Sensor

After most of the Lost members returned and the team formally reinstituted, she continued to serve with the team, until she was struck by a bolt of "Hypertaxis energy" while on Xanthu. This caused her to mutate out of control until the arch-villain Ra's al Ghul managed to stabilise her in a form rather different from her original body.

Bitter after the change, she took to hiding in her quarters with the lights off, refusing to speak to anyone until she was forced out of hiding when the rest of the team (as well as everyone else on Legion World and several other planets) was enslaved by Universo, while she proved to have a natural immunity. After Shikari managed to free herself, the two were forced to use an unstable Threshold link to the planet Steeple to escape their teammates. There, they met with Ferro and Karate Kid, and the monks who resided there created crystalline necklaces which allowed her to extend her immunity to mental takeover to them. While the other three were enslaved by Universo quickly, she managed to fool him long enough to free Saturn Girl and Dreamer. With aid from Apparition and Ultra Boy's child, Cub, Saturn Girl proved able to defeat Universo, and Sensor co-nominated Dreamer for Legion membership. She is now slowly adjusting to her change of form.

Powers and abilities

Sensor can cast realistic illusions, which have both a visual and telepathic element, which can fool anyone and anything not aware in advance that it is illusory.

She is also super-strong.

Notes

  • The logic of Sensor's choice of codename has never been entirely clear - it is a homage to "Sensor Girl," Princess Projectra's later codename in the pre-Zero Hour Legion, but that derives from a time Projectra was hiding her true abilities and identity. No satisfactory reason was ever given for Sensor choosing a codename which suggested the opposite of her abilities.
  • Many Legion fans were unhappy at the "rebooting" of Projectra as a snake.
