Heroclix

Intro

Since 2003, the HeroClix line from WizKids has been coming out about annually. HeroClix is a role-playing game but instead of keeping track of stats on paper, the stats are on a click wheel at the base of each figure.

The characters have powers and team affiliations that vary with their experience levels: Rookie, Experience, and Veteran (R, E, and V), and the characters have stronger powers (or do it better) at higher levels. Some of them even have "Unique" or "Special Edition" figures, even more powerful. Each experience level comes with its own color (yellow = Rookie, blue = Experienced, red = Veteran, silver = Unique, bronze = Special Edition from the box, gold = Super Rare from a tournament win) painted in a ring around each base. Each figure has a dial that lists the attributes so players don't have to remember anything, and you rotate the dial to show hits, etc., Figures from the same team get benefits.

The various series of HeroClix have been released in waves, typically once per year. Legion-related figures have been seen in nearly all lines to date. Over the years, Legionnaires and their villains have appeared in their pre-Crisis, post-Zero Hour, and post-Infinite Crisis incarnations. In some cases, figures are released in both their code name and civilian names, or with different code names depending on rank.

Heroclix Waves

Note: The name listed below is for the version of the character as defined by the costume. Some figures were released with different and chronologically inappropriate code-names for a given costume (such as the 2006 release of Shadow Lass and Umbra in the Umbra costume, or the 2007 release of Mon-El, Valor, and M'Onel with the M'Onel costume). Characters listed on two separate lines in the table have two different sculpt figures with different powers. See the table below for full details.

The 2007 Legion Starter set figures do not have a colored ring on the base to denote R/E/V status. Their status can be found at the HeroClix web site.

Legion of Super Heroes Starter Game (2007)

• Post Infinite Crisis costume: Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Phantom Girl, Saturn Girl, Superman, Timber Wolf, and Ultra Boy. Shrinking Violet is represented by a disc with no figure as if she is shrunken.

The set also includes:

• 2 objects (a communications dish and a hovering news-bot)
• 3'x3' full-color, 2-sided HeroClix map
• A HeroClix rulebook and PAC (Powers and Abilities Card) cards for each of the 8 Legionnaires
• 1 Feat card, 1 Battlefield Condition (Defiance and Drag) and terrain and object tokens (Barrier, Smoke, and Special, various robots, etc.)
• 1 HeroClix base turning ring and 2 dice

All but the dice and ring are branded with either the "Legion of Super Heroes" logo or the "L" symbol.
