Heroclix

Intro

HeroClix is a miniature game where the figure stats are on a wheel in the base of each figure. Because the stats are on a wheel, they can change as the character takes damage or heals, making the game more dynamic than miniature games where the stats remain constant through the life of the figure. Moving the dial from one position to another makes a clicking sound, hence "HeroClix".

Originally, the characters have powers and team affiliations that vary with their experience levels: Rookie, Experience, and Veteran (R, E, and V), and the characters typically had stronger powers (or do it better) at higher levels. Some of them even have "Unique" or "Special Edition" figures, even more powerful, or representing a specific, unusual period in the character's history. Each experience level cames with its own color (yellow = Rookie, blue = Experienced, red = Veteran, silver = Unique, bronze = Special Edition from the box, gold = Super Rare from a tournament win) painted in a ring around each base.

In 2007, the stylings of the game underwent a revamp and the experience levels were greatly deprecated. Figures were now accompanied by a character card, that allowed individualized powers to be produced, greatly increasing the flexibility of the game to represent unusual powers. The colored rings no longer appeared on the dial (but can still be determined from the background color of the character's picture on his card). Most characters have only one version released in a set. This means less diversity of options for a single character, but meant sets could cover more characters per set.

The various series of HeroClix have been released in waves, typically 3-4 per year, since 2003. Legion-related figures have been seen in most of the DC releases. Over the years, Legionnaires and their villains have appeared in their Preboot, Reboot and Threeboot incarnations. In some cases, figures are released in both their code name and civilian names, or with different code names depending on rank.

Heroclix Waves

Note: The name listed below is for the version of the character as defined by the costume. Some figures were released with different and chronologically inappropriate code-names for a given costume (such as the 2006 release of Shadow Lass and Umbra in the Umbra costume, or the 2007 release of Mon-El, Valor, and M'Onel with the M'Onel costume). Characters listed on two separate lines in the table have two different sculpt figures with different powers. See the table below for full details.
